New Britain, PA – Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams LLP has announced that attorneys Christopher A. Bambach and Jason D. Fortenberry have been named partners of the firm and Suzanne Pontious and Tammy J. Schmitt have been promoted to senior associates. The new titles for these attorneys mark the firm’s ongoing efforts to recognize and cultivate talent within its ranks, and reflect the dedication and contributions of these lawyers to the firm’s clients’ successes.

Bambach guides the firm’s presence in the Northeast region of Pennsylvania as resident attorney of its Pittston, PA office. He represents school districts and related entities in special education matters on both administrative and appellate levels, providing both advocacy and proactive counsel to his clients.

Fortenberry advises clients on special education issues, Section 504 matters, Americans with Disabilities Act violations, and other disability discrimination claims. His unique perspective stems from having represented both school entities and students with their families in such cases. Fortenberry also frequently presents educational programs on a range of special education topics.

Pontious has extensive experience as a litigator in both public and private sectors, including for the City of Philadelphia Law Department.  She now represents school districts, rendering advice and litigating matters primarily related to special education, discrimination, and pupil services issues.

Schmitt brings a wealth of expertise from both sides of the negotiation table. Before joining the firm, she represented families of students with disabilities in claims against school entities, and now maintains a strong practice representing school and public entities in special education, civil rights, and employment discrimination cases.

Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams, LLP was formed in 1995 by nine experienced education lawyers who created the first private law practice in Pennsylvania dedicated entirely to Education Law. Since then, the firm has grown to 26 attorneys who represent over 290 school and municipal entities as Solicitors or as Special Counsel in more than 50 counties throughout Pennsylvania, and in additional practice areas, such as Construction Law, Tax Assessment Appeals, Audit of Operations and Practices, Real Estate Law and Oil, Gas and Mineral Law.
